direct tv card program:
High definition viewing
Your
direct tv card program is the hidden brains behind your
digital satellite system. Your direct tv card program
looks like a credit card, but it's much smarter. We'll
discuss this more below.

When
you order a pay-per-view movie or special event, the
information, including date and time, is marked with your
access card’s unique number and recorded on the card’s
magnetic "brain." When your direct tv card
program does "callbacks" to the millions of
satellite systems in use around the country, the data is
downloaded from your access card to computers. It’s then
applied to your account, so that you can be billed for
your movies. Some people think ordering a movie or special
event uses the phone line that’s supposed to be hooked
up to your system. This is not the case.
In the
event that your direct tv card program providers need to
send you a new access card, use the Access Card option to
initialize your new card. During this process, you'll
follow the on-screen instructions to copy information from
the old card onto the new card. After you initialize the
new card, your old card becomes invalid.
Make no
mistake, once you see high definition digital television
you will never want to go back to watching "your
father's" TV. Our current analog system was
originally designed about 60 years ago. With digital HDTV
the old saying, "a picture is worth a thousand
words" was never truer. You simply have to see HDTV
to believe how good it is. Most people have not even seen
HD, and even fewer realize that they can have it now, 24
hours a day, 7 days a week; but they can, thanks to your
direct tv program card. These satellite services offer
full-time HD channels at no extra charge as well as first
run pay-per-view movies.
