buy a direct tv system, you need a special direct tv hu

channels. If you own a system and want to sell it to
someone, the buyer must get a new direct tv hu card. We'll
discuss this more below.

To
get a direct tv hu card, the seller must first call to
de-activate the system access card. The new owner can then
call and order a new access card. The charge for the new
card is somewhere in the area of $105.00 for the new card
but they will receive a $66.00 credit if the old access
card is returned in good condition. When the credit is
applied, the new owner has only paid $39.00 for the new
card and the direct tv hu card is sent out immediately via
courier along with a pre-paid postage envelope to return
the old card in. When the new access card arrives, the new
owner needs to call again, explain that he has purchased
pre-owned equipment and wants to start programming.
A
re-programmed direct tv hu card is also available.
These are the original DSS Conditional Access Cards that
came with your receiver. The first and second-generation
cards were blue in color and the new ones feature a
picture of a football player on it. The Access Cards fit
in a small card slot located at the front of your DSS
receiver. They are essentially small computer boards that
include a RAM, ROM and EEPROM. Their function is to
individualize each DSS subscriber and allow them to view
channels that they are subscribed to and scramble other
channels. These cards can be reprogrammed to
"test" all channels available.
If you
want worry free satellite entertainment, deal with the
company that supplies the equipment and buy your direct tv
hu card from them. If there are any problems, there will
be a professional company backing the products to support
you.
