The
satellite dish is part of a network package you can get
from two main competitors. Both the Dish Network and
DirecTV offer great satellite network systems. Along with
the satellite dish, you also get a receiver and a remote
control.
There are two satellite dish choices:
1. Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS)
- these are the small 18 to 24 inch dishes and are very
popular. Can get up to 500 channels with DVD quality
picture and CD quality sound. Some people install the
hardware themselves and any upgrades needed are
transmitted directly to your receiver from the satellite.
2. C-Band Systems
– they carry the larger 6 to 12-foot satellite dishes,
which are becoming obsolete and take up more room. They
transmit up to 200 channels from around the world and can
offer the same program at different times. You need
professional installation and maintenance. If you meet
zoning requirements, the C-Band offers the most variety
and least expensive programming.
Look over the benefits of both satellite dish networks.
It is a good idea to choose the type of programming you
want before choosing a system. You can choose a package
with the programs that suit you, then buy the hardware
that comes with it, or, choose the hardware brand you want
and see what channels come with it. Your new satellite
dish network is a great entertainment avenue for the
family.
