satellite
tv Canada:
Expand your options
The
Canadian public has been purchasing the American-based
receivers supporting satellite tv Canada for years. In
more recent times, American consumers have been purchasing
receivers providing the Canadian services for satellite tv
Canada. We'll discuss this more below.

There
is a support service in Canada for the American-based
satellite services, and in the US, for the Canadian-based
satellite services. They do not get involved in the
international politics of satellite service, or make value
judgments on which company or which country provides the
better programming. They are simply the Brokers for your
cross border television service for satellite tv Canada.
Like
the cable companies, satellite companies haven't finalized
how they will package the new digital channels. There will
likely be packages with a combination of current cable
channels and new digital channels, or theme-based packages
such as a collection of sports specialty channels. Another
possibility is an option to pay a monthly fee of $5 to $10
for a specific channel. Another way of receiving the
digital channels is through satellite tv Canada. You will
need a satellite dish and a converter box. Right now, you
can't rent these dishes or boxes but cable companies sell
them (usually with their DTV packages) for $200 to $800.
Mini-dish
receivers for satellite tv Canada have come down to around
$500 - $600 plus about $200 if you have it installed.
You'll also shell out close to $45 per month in
programming fees. Premium packages cost extra. So for now,
cable may not be a great deal, but it's still the cheapest
option.
